GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track & field team wrapped up the Colorado Mines DII Invitational with a second-place finish, climbing three spots on the second day of competition.
The Mountain Lions, who finished with 86.16 points, saw
Chelsea Martus and
Molly Klotz take fourth and fifth place respectively in the 800m as the duo finished with NCAA Division II provisional qualifying times of 2:17.31 and 2:17.86.
Also on the track,
Danielle Cormier placed fourth overall, picking up five points for UCCS with a time of 9.07 seconds. Additionally, the 4x400m relay team of
Jalen Jordan, Martus, Klotz, and
Makenzie Urban took third with a time of 4:05.98.
The field events were highlighted by the Mountain Lions who went first, second, and third place in the high jump.
Morgan Barone won the event by clearing 1.64m (5'4.50") on her first attempt as Cormier cleared the same height on her final attempt.
Josie Eder tied for third, clearing 1.50m (4'11"). In all, the trio combined for 23.5 points for UCCS.
Western State won the meet, garnering 120 points as CSU-Pueblo totaled 98.5 points. The Mountain Lions edged New Mexico Highlands by just 2.16 points, who placed fourth with 84 points.
UCCS is back in action next Friday and Saturday at the Colorado Indoor Invitational in Boulder.
