GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor track and field team opened the spring semester with a strong start on the first day of Colorado Mines' Twilight Invitational.
DePree Kimber took third place against collegiate competition and fourth overall in the long jump with a leap of 6.91m (22'8") for UCCS. Teammate
Derek Valdez was seventh with a distance of 6.68m (21'11"), an improvement of more than eight inches.
Brenton Emmons and
Kyle Rex also had strong performances in the pole vault by clearing 4.51m (14'9.5") and 4.21m (13'9.75") to place third and fourth respectively.
The Mountain Lions are back in action tomorrow as they compete in day two of the Twilight Invitational.
