SPEARFISH, S.D. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore hurdler
Molly Klotz qualified for the finals in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal-best time to lead the Mountain Lions on the second day of the 2016 RMAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Lyle Hare Stadium. She finished in 1 minute, 1.07 seconds and will race in the finals on Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
Klotz qualified as the runner-up in her heat in her best unadjusted time by more than nine-tenths of a second. She lowered her NCAA provisional qualifying time to 1:01.18 and is unofficially No. 19 in the NCAA Division II performance lists. Klotz was the RMAC champion in the event last season.
Sam Bauer finished No. 10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with 11:49.07, and her altitude-adjusted time of 11:38.77 is three seconds off of her season-best time.
Alicia Lawrence missed the finals in the 200-meter dash by one-hundredth of a second with 25.65 in a ninth-place finish. She was also ninth in the 100-meter dash preliminaries yesterday.
UCCS will begin the final day of the RMAC Championships on Sunday with
Chantelle Fondren and
Marah Guzman in the 1,500-meter run at 12:15 p.m.
Chelsea Martus will run in the 800-meter run final at 1:20 p.m., and six Mountain Lions will run in the 5,000-meter run at 2 p.m. UCCS will finish the weekend with the 4x400-meter relay at 3:30 p.m.
