LONG BEACH, Calif. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore Molly Klotz provisionally qualified for the NCAA national championships in the 400-meter hurdles to lead the Mountain Lions at the Beach Invitational hosted at Long State Beach's Jake Rose Track.

Klotz ran 1 minute, 2.21 seconds, to improve her adjusted qualifying time this season by .78 seconds from last Saturday's Colorado Invitational. She finished fourth in her heat today and No. 25 among the 68 hurdlers who finished.

Chantelle Fondren led five Mountain Lions in the 1,500-meter run for the second straight day with 4:37.68. All five runners finished under the five-minute mark and Makenzie Urban and Melanie Diep both ran season-best times while Natalie Polei ran the 1,500-meter run for the first time this season.

Chelsea Martus ran 2:15.87 and was six-tenths of a second off of her time from last night at the Bryan Clay Invitational. She has ran sub-2:16 times in the las two races and three times in her career.

UCCS is scheduled to split squads next week with runners back in California for the UC San Diego Triton Invitational and the Kansas Relays.
