COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore sprinter
Alicia Lawrence won the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, and ran the leadoff leg on the winning 4x100-meter relay team for the Mountain Lions in today's dual against Colorado College at Washburn Field. She ran on the relay with Asia Bastian,
Hayley Gillen and
Chelsea Martus, and
Marah Guzman earned an individual victory in the 1,500-meter run.
Lawrence won in 12.6 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 26.7 seconds in the 200-meter dash to win both races by more than a second. The relay crossed the finish line in 53.2 seconds and edged out the Colorado College relay by half-a-second.
Guzman won the 1,500-meter run in her first outdoor race of her collegiate career with 5:03.2, three second ahead of runner-up and teammate
Makenzie Urban. It was the sixth top-three finish for Urban between the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2015-16.
UCCS will return to Washburn Field next Saturday, March 26, for the Colorado College Invitational.
