GOLDEN, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's indoor track & field team wrapped up their first meet of the season on Friday at the Colorado Mines Alumni Classic & Multi.
The Mountain Lions posted several notable performances on the second day of action after
Veronica Burney set a new program with 3,047 points in the heptathlon as
Danielle Cormier broke the school record in the 60m hurdles in the same competition with a time of 9.07 seconds.
Highlighting the team's efforts on Friday, senior middle distance runner
Chelsea Martus took third place in the 800m with time of 2:18.88, just missing out on the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark of 2:18.33.
The 4x400m relay team placed fourth with a time of 4:10.13.
In the field events,
Morgan Barone, a freshman, was fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.65 meters for a provisional qualifying mark.
UCCS is off until after the holiday break when they return to the Steinhauer Fieldhouse at Colorado Mines to take part in the Twilight Invitational on Jan. 20-21.
