GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs sophomore David Kimaiyo came within two seconds of an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the mile run as the Mountain Lions competed in the Division II Invitational today at Colorado School of Mines. He finished sixth with an unadjusted time of 4 minutes, 26.13 seconds at Steinahuer Fieldhouse.

Kimaiyo's time will adjust down to 4:14.23 after altitude and track size conversions, and is 1.8 seconds off of the provisional qualifying mark for the 2016 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships. He is No. 12 in the RMAC performance lists.
