COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs Head Women's Soccer Coach
Nichole Ridenour announced the addition of two transfer Division I student-athletes who signed financial aid agreements and one freshman who signed a National Letter of Intent. Â Evelina Hellgren will transfer from Bowling Green as a goalkeeper and Bethany Leliefeld will transfer from Idaho as a center defender. Sara Severson of Aurora, Ill., signed an NLI.
Leliefeld played 14 games with five starts for the Vandals. She was a member of a defense that posted a pair of shutouts in the Big Sky Conference. Leliefeld was the 2012 Mt. Hood Conference Player of the Year and a two-time Second Team All-State selection at Sam Barlow. She is a native of Boring, Ore., and a graduate of Sam Barlow High School.
Hellgren redshirted her freshman season. She was a two-year captain in high school and was a member of the Sjalevads IK Club Team that played in one of the top leagues in Sweden. She was one of two goalkeepers to be selected to the Swedish Elite Camp in 2010. She is from Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, and graduated from Parkskolan High School.
Severson was a two-year letterwinner for the Mustangs and the team captain in her senior season. She was a member of two teams to be sectional finalists. She was a three-time academic All-Upstate 8 selection and was active in Special Olympics and Business Professionals of America.
The two transfers join five student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent in February. The Mountain Lions will report for check-in on Aug. 16 before the start of official practices on Aug. 17. UCCS will open the 2015 season at home against Texas A&M International on Sept. 3 to start a seven-game home stand.
