AZUSA, Calif. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs freshman hurdler
Molly Klotz became the first Mountain Lion of the outdoor season to record an NCAA provisional qualifying mark to lead UCCS at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific. She lowered her 400-meter hurdle time to a program-record time of 1 minute, 2.11 seconds in a fifth-place finish among the 64 hurdlers today.
Klotz unofficially moved into No. 21 in the Division II performance lists and third among Division II freshmen. She is fourth in the RMAC performance lists with two weeks before the conference championships. Teammate
Jessica Todd finished No. 15 in today's race with 1:03.47.
Alicia Lawrence improved on her times in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes from yesterday with times of 12.49 seconds and 25.22 seconds, respectively.
Hayley Gantt ran a career-best time in the 200-meter dash with 25.60 seconds and a season-best time in the 100-meter dash with 12.55 seconds.
Sam Bauer and
Sarah Treese finished with .31 seconds of each other in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with Bauer crossing first in 11:30.25. Treese's time of 11:30.56 was a new season-best for the senior.
Amber McAfee ran her fastest unadjusted time of the season in the 800-meter run with 2:17.77.
Hayley Gillen improved by more than three-tenths of a second in the 400-meter dash from yesterday with 1:00.93 today.
The Mountain Lions will be back in Colorado next week for the Colorado Mines Pre-Conference Meet. Action will take place April 24-25 at the Stermole Complex in Golden, Colo.
