LOS ANGELES –
Molly Klotz and
Jessica Todd both ran season-bests in the 400-meter hurdles to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track and field team at the California State-Los Angeles Twilight Open today at Jesse Owens Track. Klotz led with a time of 1 minute, 3.18 seconds, while Todd finished just more than a second later in 1:04.62.
Klotz finished fifth and lowered her time by .84 seconds. She moved into fifth among Division II freshmen in the event and is within a second of the NCAA provisional qualifying time. Todd improved her season-best time by more than a second today.
Madison Neher finished third in the 5,000-meter run with 19:25.61 in her first outdoor 5K of the season.
Alicia Lawrence led the Mountain Lion short sprinters with 25.27 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 12.51 seconds in the 100-meter dash.
Chelsea Martus broke the 1-minute mark in the 400-meter dash for the second straight time with 59.39 seconds to lead three Mountain Lions in the event.
Kelly Devlin finished No. 12 in the 1,500-meter run to open the day and finished in 5:30.96.
UCCS will continue the week at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific on Friday.
