GOLDEN, Colo. – Chelsea Martus won the 800-meter run and teammate Amber McAfee finished second to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs on the second day of the Kit Mayer Memorial Open at Colorado School of Mines. Alicia Lawrence finished second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash to lead the sprinters.

Martus won in an unadjusted time of 2 minutes, 18.36 seconds, for the second-fastest time in the RMAC this season when adjusted to 2:17.35. McAfee's time of 2:19.28 adjusted to 2:18.26 for the third-fastest time in the conference. The two also ran on the 4x400-meter relay with Jessica Todd and Molly Klotz that finished second in 3:56.91.

Lawrence ran unadjusted times of 25.12 seconds in the 200-meter dash and 12.23 seconds in the 100-meter dash to lead the Mountain Lion short sprinters. Both times are the seventh fastest for a Division II freshman this season and rank among the top 40 times in the division overall when converted to 25.19 and 12.26 seconds. Hayley Gillen led three Mountain Lions in the 400-meter dash with a fifth-place performance in 1:00.70.

Klotz and Todd finished third and fourth, respectively, in the 400-meter hurdles, and hold the same positions in the conference performance lists. Kelly Devlin finished the 1,500-meter run in 5:05.02 seconds, and the altitude will convert it to less than 5 minutes at 4:56.84.

UCCS will remain in Colorado Springs next weekend for the Colorado College Invitational. Action at Frank Flood Track at Washburn Field begins at 9:15 a.m.
