BOULDER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's track and field team recorded 11 top-10 finishes, with a pair from
Hayley Gantt in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes, in the first weekend of the outdoor season at the Jerry Quiller Classic at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Gantt finished sixth in the 100-meter dash in 12.66 seconds and was eighth in the 200-meter dash with 25.59 seconds. She was the top Division II finisher in both events, and was joined in the top 10 of the 100-meter dash by teammate
Alicia Lawrence. Lawrence was second in her heat with 12.83 seconds.
Molly Klotz led three Mountain Lions in the top 10 of the 400-meter dash with her 58.40 seconds to finish sixth overall. She has the second-fastest mark in the RMAC, while teammate
Chelsea Martus is third in the conference after won her heat and placed seventh with 58.73 seconds.
Amber McAfee came in at No. 10 overall with 1:00.91. The three sprinters joined with
Hayley Gillen to run 3:57.71 in the 4x400-meter relay and finish third in that event. The relay had the fastest time in the conference this weekend.
Sarah Treese and
Kelly Devlin placed eighth and No. 10, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run. Treese ran an unadjusted time of 11:00.86 and was fourth among collegiate runners in the field. Devlin came in less than five seconds later at 11:05.46.
Tacey Divottorio placed fifth in the shot put with 25 feet, 3 ¼ inches. She recorded her best throw on her third attempt in a mark that was more than five feet further than any of her other throws.
Natalie Polei won her heat and was No. 10 overall in the 800-meter run in 2:28.26 for an altitude-adjusted 2:27.33.
UCCS will continue the outdoor season in the Front Range Classic March 27-28 at Colorado School of Mines.
