BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's indoor track and field team finished No. 11 in the distance medley relay and members earned Second Team All-America honors in the 2015 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Mountain Lions finished in 10 minutes, 12.02 seconds with a shift in the medley order due to injury.
UCCS replaced anchor leg
David Kimaiyo and used alternate
Travis Anderson as the 800-meter run in the third leg.
Carson Aberle ran the leadoff 1,200-meter leg,
Ryan Buchanan ran the 400-meter leg and
Kyle McCloskey was moved to the anchor leg for the mile run. It was the second time for the Mountain Lions in the distance medley relay in the past three seasons.
The four Mountan Lions who competed will earn All-America honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The four will earn a spot on the expanded Second Team, which includes finishers from ninth through No. 12.
The Mountain Lions will move right into the outdoor season with the Jerry Quiller Classic March 21 at CU Boulder.
