GOLDEN, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs senior sprinter
Jessica Todd finished fourth in the 400-meter dash as the Mountain Lions competed in the Colorado School of Mines Twilight Open today at Steinhauer Fieldhouse. She led a group of four Mountain Lions who finished in the top 10 of their respective events today.
Todd was second among collegiate runners with 1 minute, 2.50 seconds. Her time from the Mines Alumni Open will remain her season best and seventh in the RMAC with an adjusted time of 59.43 seconds from last month.
Melanie Diep ran 2:23.90 in the 800-meter run to win her heat and placed fourth among collegiate runners and sixth overall. Her time placed her sixth in the conference performance list, one spot behind teammate
Chelsea Martus' time from the Mines Alumni Open in December. Martus ran 2:25.20 in today's race to finish eighth overall.
Heather Bates opened her collegiate track career with a fifth-place finish in the mile run with 5:23.03. She was second among Division II runners and fourth among all collegiate runners, and her adjusted time of 5:10.31 put her sixth in the RMAC performance lists.
UCCS will be back at the Steinhauer Fieldhouse next weekend for the Colorado Mines Division II Invitational Jan. 30-31.
