Stephen Cook shot a 140 (69-71) during the first two rounds and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs held a 5-stroke lead at the first RMAC event of the season today at Buffalo Run Golf Course. The Mountain Lions recorded a team score of 581 through the first two rounds and were five strokes above par.
Cook matched his season-best with a 69 in the opening round this morning, and his 71 in the afternoon round put him in a tie with Colorado Christian's Andrew Kennedy. Teammate
Dylan Mitchell was one stroke behind the leaders with scores of 70 and 71 and was 3-under par through the first day.
Patrick Skakel, the defending RMAC golfer of the week, was 4-over par with a 148 (73-75), and
Kyle Southard rounded out the Mountain Lion scorers with a 152 (78-74).
UCCS will go into Tuesday's final round with a five-stroke advantage against Colorado Christian in the 11-team tournament. The round begins at 8 a.m., MDT.
