Dylan Mitchell recorded a 74 for his best round of the tournament and finished No. 11 overall to lead the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's golf team to a second-place finish at the RMAC #2 Event today at Eisenhower Golf Course. The Mountain Lions recorded a three-round team score of 919 for 55-over par.
Mitchell closed out the front nine and back nine with birdies and moved up seven spots in today's round for his third top-15 performance of the season. He improved by three strokes off of his first and second rounds on Monday in his best single round since the first RMAC event Sept. 22-23 in Commerce City, Colo.
Stephen Cook finished the tournament one stroke behind Mitchell in a tie for No. 12 after his 75 in today's round. He improved by six positions today in his third top-15 finish and shot 3-over par in the final 36 holes of the tournament.
Zach Tripp and
Kyle Southard rounded out the UCCS team scores with rounds of 79 and 82, respectively, for a 310 for the Mountain Lions.
UCCS finished 27 strokes behind champion Colorado School of Mines, which turned in the best team round today with 294. Today's second-place finish was the third win or runner-up performance for the Mountain Lions in four tournaments this fall.
The Mountain Lions will conclude the fall schedule at the Otter Invitational hosted by California State-Monterey Bay Oct. 20-21.
