9/8/2026 10:00:00 AM

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sophomore Yohann Fila and Senior Hugo Sjöberg of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's soccer team were recognized with weekly conference awards on Tuesday morning, with Fila being named the RMAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and Sjöberg being tabbed the RMAC Men's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.

Fila picks up the first RMAC Offensive Player of the Week accolade of his collegiate career after serving as an offensive catalyst for the Mountain Lions last week with contributions to all three of the goals scored by UCCS in a 1-1 draw against No. 1 nationally ranked Midwestern State University and a 2-1 win over Lubbock Christian University. Across 171 total minutes played in the front field, the France native recorded five points on two goals and one assist while putting six of his eight shots on target. The sophomore forward opened the week by logging 81 minutes on the pitch against the top-ranked Mustangs on Friday evening and recorded a pair of shots on goal in addition to converting a penalty kick goal in the 36th minute to give UCCS a 1-0 lead. Fila followed with another strong performance on Sunday, playing the full 90 minutes while registering six shots and four shots on goal against Lubbock Christian. Fila notched an assist on Lucas Taitt's game-tying goal in the 51st minute before breaking away from the defense to net the game-winner in the 79th minute.

Sjöberg collects RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for the first time this season and the fourth time in his career at UCCS after putting together an impressive week in frame for the Mountain Lions, playing all 180 minutes and recording a 1.00 GAA with 10 saves. The senior goalkeeper started the week with five saves in a 1-1 draw against No. 1 Midwestern State, holding a high-powered Mustangs squad that entered the match averaging 5.5 goals per game to just a single score. Sjöberg continued to excel between the sticks on Sunday as he added five more saves while surrendering just one goal to help guide UCCS to a 2-1 victory over Lubbock Christian.

The Mountain Lions will continue their non-conference schedule with a 6 p.m. home kickoff against University of Hawaii Hilo on Wednesday, Sept. 9 before heading north to Burnaby, B.C. to take on Simon Fraser University on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. (MT).
