HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Midwestern State had the first major scoring opportunity of the match in the 15th minute as a perfectly placed pass opened a shooting lane for Parker Plaxco, but Hugo Sjöberg dove to his right and firmly secured the ball to shut down any further shots.
  • UCCS had their first dangerous chance in the 34th minute as Dillon Clarke had his sights on an open shooting lane but the chance got snuffed out as the Mustang goalie Jake Morris dove to his left and deflected it out of bounds.
  • UCCS opened the scoring less than two minutes later as Jack Cook drew a foul in the eight-yard box, allowing Yohann Fila to bury the ball past a diving Morris and give the Mountain Lions a 1-0 lead.
  • The Mustangs tied the match in the 72nd minute as Sjöberg made an initial diving save, but the rebound found the foot of Lawrence Doe for him to tap the ball into a wide-open net.
  • The rest of the match featured multiple attacks by both sides, but no scoring opportunities as the 1-1 tie concluded.
