AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team split up on Friday with student-athletes competing at both the Franson Last Chance in Azusa, Calif., and the Air Force Twilight in Colorado Springs, Colo. as the two groups combined to record a total of six NCAA provisional qualifying marks across the two locations.

HOW IT HAPPENED | FRANSON LAST CHANCE
- Coming off a strong first day of competition yesterday, junior Evan Atkin maintained his spot in first place in the decathlon as he finished with a personal best and improved provisional qualifying mark of 7,031 points that currently sits 10th on the NCAA Division II performance list and will put him in contention for one of the 16 qualifying spots for the outdoor national championship meet. Atkin kicked off Friday's action by securing 783 points in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.56s before logging 578 points in the discus throw with a season-best toss of 35.69m. He went on to post 702 points in the pole vault with a bar clearance of 4.30m and 426 points in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of 38.90m while finishing up with 590 points in the 1500m at a season-best time of 4:54.80.
- Senior Dillon Arvayo made a strong push on day two of the decathlon as he rose three spots to finish in fourth place with a personal best and NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,538 points. After opening the day with a time of 16.36s in the 110m hurdles that was good for 693 points, Arvayo nearly matched his PR in the discus throw to collect 624 points with a toss of 38.02m. Arvayo tied his outdoor personal best in the pole vault at 4.30m to score 702 points before finishing his day with two more season-best marks in the javelin throw (46.60m) and 1500m (5:08.41), scoring 538 points and 512 points, respectively.
- Redshirt junior Broden Cahoon finished the decathlon in sixth place overall as he posted an NCAA provisional qualifying score of 6,442 points. Cahoon got off to a strong start on Friday as he notched 736 points with a time of 15.97 in the 110m hurdles before moving on to the discus throw (30.48m) and pole vault (3.80m), where he added 474 points and 562 points, respectively. In the javelin throw, he recorded a season-best mark of 45.14m that was good for 517 points before ending the day with 534 points in the 1500m at a time of 5:04.47.
- Senior Brett Davis closed the evening with a huge performance under the lights in the men's 5,000m as he shaved more than five seconds off his previous personal best in the event for an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 13:55.48 that placed him third overall out of 110 competitors in the event. Davis's time tentatively moves him from 18th to 12th on the NCAA Division II performance list for the event, with the top 22 declared athletes set to earn qualification for the outdoor national championship meet.
HOW IT HAPPENED | AIR FORCE TWILIGHT
- The Mountain Lions recorded a pair of NCAA provisional qualifying marks in the men's hammer throw with senior Michael Roberts finishing second overall in the 12-person field at a mark of 60.47m and junior Hayden Cuevas taking third overall at a mark of 57.70m.
- Roberts returned to the throws ring later in the afternoon and posted a fifth place finish out of 12 competitors in the men's discus throw with a mark of 47.76m, while sophomore Joseph Bjegovich claimed eighth place with a heave of 44.00m.
- Redshirt senior Joseph Hamilton was the top overall finisher in the men's 800m as he clocked a converted time of 1:56.46 to best the 14-person field, while redshirt junior Anthony Economou took fourth overall with a converted time of 1:58.87.
- Redshirt sophomore Olivia Sargent put forth a personal best effort in the women's 800m as she galloped to a converted time of 2:13.01 for a third-place finish in the nine-person field.
- UCCS had a trio of student-athletes competing in the men's 1500m with redshirt junior Joseph Impellitteri leading the group as the ninth overall finisher in the 21-person field with a converted time of 3:50.58. Redshirt sophomore Jonas Graff crossed the finish line directly behind Impellitteri in 10th place with a personal best converted time of 3:50.87, while redshirt freshman Jacob Kinne claimed 11th place with a personal best converted time of 3:53.30.
- Redshirt sophomore Madison Brosig led the Mountain Lions in the women's 1500m as she took third place overall in the eight-person field with a converted time of 4:34.48, while junior Emma Montoya finished fourth overall in a converted time of 4:44.83.
- Freshman Xavier Sutherlin turned in a fourth-place finish in the men's 110m hurdles as he clocked a converted time of 15.06s.
- Sophomore Dyanna Parra unleashed a season-best toss of 37.45m in the women's javelin throw for a fifth-place finish in the nine-person competition, while senior Nicole Castillio was the sixth overall finisher with a mark of 34.28m.
- Freshman Kuron Reed was the lone Mountain Lion jumper in action on Friday as he finished third overall in the long jump with a mark of 6.45m and second overall in the triple jump with a leap of 13.74m.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- UCCS recorded updates to the top five lists in the outdoor record book for two different events at the Franson Last Chance on Friday, including the men's 5,000m and men's decathlon.
UP NEXT
- The Mountain Lions will wrap up the Franson Last Chance tomorrow with a handful of distance runners set to compete under the lights at APU Cougar Athletic Stadium starting at approximately 8:50 p.m. (MT). UCCS will also have a group of student-athletes in action in Kearney, Neb., for the first day of the Loper Twilight, which will start at 3 p.m. (MT).
