GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team wrapped up their 2026 campaign Friday afternoon as the Mountain Lions fell to top-seeded Colorado Mesa University, 11-4, marking the end of their season at the 2026 RMAC Baseball Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Colorado Mesa struck first in the opening inning after Kolby Felix doubled to lead off the frame before Brooks Bachman delivered an RBI single and another run crossed following a UCCS error to give the Mavericks a 2-0 advantage.
- The Mavericks added three more runs in the second inning as Felix drove in a run with a bunt single before Tate Blasi ripped a two-run double down the left field line to extend the lead to 5-0.
- Colorado Mesa continued to build momentum in the fourth inning when Blasi launched a two-run home run to right field, pushing the Mavericks lead to 7-0.
- UCCS threatened in the sixth inning after Tyler Buchman singled and Brendan Killeen followed with a base hit to left center, but the Mavericks escaped the jam and maintained the eight-run cushion.
- Blasi added his second homer of the afternoon in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo shot to left center field to make it 9-0 in favor of Colorado Mesa.
- The Mountain Lions broke through in the eighth inning after Tyler Genrich doubled into right center and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Ruben Velasco to cut the deficit to 9-1.
- Colorado Mesa answered with two more runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning behind a two-run double from Trevor Tse to regain an 11-1 advantage.
- UCCS mounted a late rally in the ninth inning as Nolan Oliver opened the frame with a pinch-hit single before Matthew Shipley blasted a two-run home run to left field. Later in the inning, Quinn Medin lined an RBI single up the middle to bring the score to 11-4 before the Mavericks recorded the final out.
GAME STATISTICS
- UCCS recorded nine hits in the contest with Quinn Medin, Brendan Killeen, and Tyler Genrich each posting two-hit performances.
- Matthew Shipley led the Mountain Lions offensively with a two-run home run in the ninth inning.
- Tyler Genrich finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Quinn Medin added an RBI and two hits.
- Jason Fink provided solid relief for UCCS, tossing 4.0 innings while allowing four runs and striking out one batter.
- Tate Blasi paced Colorado Mesa with two home runs and five RBIs on a 3-for-5 afternoon.
