Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team stumbled Thursday night as the Mountain Lions fell to MSU Denver, 7-2, in the quarterfinal round of the 2026 RMAC Baseball Championships.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSU Denver grabbed the early lead in the bottom of the first inning after Marques Abulhosn worked a lead off walk and later scored on a wild pitch to put the Roadrunners ahead 1-0.
- UCCS threatened in the second inning as Nolan Oliver singled and the Mountain Lions loaded the bases with two outs, but MSU Denver escaped the jam to preserve the one-run advantage.
- The Roadrunners added to their lead in the third inning behind a Brooks Rasmussen double and an RBI double from Abulhosn before a throwing error allowed another run to score, extending the MSUD lead to 3-0.
- UCCS answered in the top of the fourth inning as Matthew Shipley singled and stole second before Cayden Gonzalez ripped an RBI single into right center field to plate the Mountain Lions first run of the night.
- MSU Denver immediately responded in the bottom half of the inning when Brayden Oram launched a solo home run to left field, restoring the Roadrunners three-run cushion at 4-1.
- The Mountain Lions chipped away once more in the fifth inning after Bryce Peterson drew a lead off walk and eventually came home on Tyler Genrich's sacrifice fly to center field, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
- UCCS threatened again in the sixth as Ruben Velasco and Quinn Medin opened the inning with consecutive singles, but MSU Denver starter Alejandro Maltos-Garcia stranded both runners to keep the Roadrunners in front.
- The Roadrunners broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth inning as Oram blasted his second solo homer of the night before Noah Wicks delivered a two-run single later in the frame to push the advantage to 7-2.
- Drew Peters shut the door over the final three innings for MSU Denver, holding the Mountain Lions scoreless to secure the Roadrunners victory.
