INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Baseball program named one of eight teams that are under consideration for a berth to the NCAA postseason out of the South Central Region.
The Mountain Lions join seven teams in the first regional ranking, with the team's ranked in alphabetical order in the first poll this week, with the following two polls ranking the teams in potential seeding order. Eight teams are ranked each week, with the top six teams in the region awarded berths in the postseason on selection Sunday.
The Mountain Lions are coming off a four-game sweep of Colorado School of Mines this past weekend, and enjoying the most prolific offensive season in program history. Setting records in runs scored, runs batted in, home runs hit, and walks, and closing in on several others, UCCS boasts not only one of the most potent offenses in the region, but in Division II as they eye the final two series of the season.
UCCS prepares for a huge weekend as MSU Denver comes to town with second place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on the line. UCCS sits two and a half games behind the Roadrunners entering the weekend, with MSUD having yet to play first place Colorado Mesa.
The selection show will take place on May 10th, and can be streamed live on NCAA.com.
