Mountain Lions Receive No. 6 Ranking in South Central Region

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the second edition of the 2026 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball South Central Regional rankings, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team is No. 6 among 10 ranked teams. The Mountain Lions were listed as one of 10 teams under consideration in last week's initial regional poll.
 
UCCS enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 17-9 overall record and a 13-5 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, sitting in a tie for third place with Black Hills State University.
 
The Mountain Lions close out the regular season at home this weekend, beginning Friday at 5 p.m. against Adams State University. Adams State currently sits second in the RMAC standings with a 14-4 conference record (20-8 overall), one game ahead of UCCS.
 
Saturday's regular-season finale tips off at 1 p.m. as UCCS hosts New Mexico Highlands University. NMHU enters the weekend at 8-10 in conference play (12-13 overall) and is battling for a spot in the RMAC Tournament.
 
The top eight teams in the RMAC standings qualify for the conference tournament, with the top four seeds earning the right to host quarterfinal games on Tuesday, March 3.
The 64-team NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship features eight teams from each of the eight regions. The South Central Region comprises 15 RMAC institutions and 16 members from the Lone Star Conference.
 
The NCAA Women's Basketball Committee will release its final regional rankings on Wednesday, March 4. The 64-team championship field will be announced during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) on NCAA.com.
