2/18/2026 2:22:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA released the first 2026 NCAA Women's Basketball regional rankings on Wednesday afternoon, and the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's basketball team is among the 10 teams under consideration in the South Central Region.

In the season's initial regional rankings, the NCAA listed 10 teams from each of the eight regions in alphabetical order. Those teams remain in contention for selection to the NCAA Division II postseason tournament, which begins March 13.

With two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Mountain Lions hold a 15-9 overall record and are tied for fourth place in the conference standings with Western Colorado University at 11-5 in league play. The top eight teams in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings qualify for the conference tournament, with the top four seeds hosting quarterfinal games on Tuesday, March 3.

The 64-team NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Championship features eight teams from each of the eight regions. The South Central Region consists of 15 teams from the RMAC and 16 from the Lone Star Conference.

The NCAA Women's Basketball Committee will release two additional regional rankings on Wednesday, Feb. 25, and Wednesday, March 4. Unlike the initial alphabetical listing, the final two rankings will list teams in order from No. 1 through No. 10. The 64-team championship bracket will be unveiled during the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday, March 9 at 8:30 p.m. (MT) on NCAA.com.

UCCS closes out its regular-season road slate this week, traveling to face Colorado School of Mines on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., before taking on Regis University in Denver on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.
