HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Regis Rangers struck first to open Saturday's contest, but Mya Wilson quickly evened the score at 2–2 with a pair of free throws. Defense ignited the offense for the UCCS Mountain Lions, as four consecutive Rangers turnovers fueled a decisive run. Amyah Moore Allen played a key role in the surge, contributing to nine straight points, including a fastbreak and-one opportunity. Moore Allen later connected with a cutting Brynae Stewart to stretch the lead to 11–2 and force a Regis timeout.
  • Out of the break, Ayianna Johnson came off the bench and made an immediate impact, scoring her first two points as the Mountain Lions continued to roll. UCCS closed the opening quarter with a commanding 29–14 advantage.
  • Regis ended the first period on a 5–0 run and carried that momentum into the second quarter, scoring on a backdoor cut to open the frame. Rylie Ottmann responded with her third three-pointer of the afternoon from the top of the key. After the Rangers answered with a triple of their own, Breelyn Robinson caught fire, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers from the left wing to extend the lead to 38–19.
  • Leading 38–22 at the media timeout with 4:07 remaining in the half, UCCS closed the period in dominant fashion. The Mountain Lions scored nine unanswered points — highlighted by Robinson's third three-pointer of the quarter — and finished the half on an 11–2 run to take a commanding 49–22 lead into the break.
  • Ottmann stayed hot to open the second half, knocking down her fourth three-pointer of the game to begin the third quarter. She then set up a slashing Moore Allen for a bucket before Jayla Jackson-Allen powered in a left-handed driving layup, extending the UCCS Mountain Lions lead to 56–31.  Head coach Misty Wilson called an early timeout to tighten up the Mountain Lions' transition defense. Coming out of the break, Moore Allen immediately made an impact, coming up with a steal and finishing at the rim to help push the advantage to 60–33 at the media timeout.
  • Brooklyn Hurtado checked in and added her first points of the afternoon at the free-throw line. Later in the quarter, Robinson nearly stretched the lead past 30 after swiping a steal and launching a near half-court heave that just missed as the final seconds ticked off the clock. UCCS closed the third quarter firmly in control, carrying a 69–40 lead into the final period.
  • Leading by 29 entering the fourth quarter, the UCCS Mountain Lions maintained control and kept the Regis Rangers at arm's length to secure an 83–64 victory.  Johnson set the tone in the final 10 minutes, scoring four points in four minutes to help steady the lead. Hurtado added three points off the bench, while Robinson knocked down her fourth three-pointer of the night to cap the scoring.  The win marked UCCS' third straight victory.
