COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team completed their four-game sweep of the University of Jamestown Sunday afternoon, in thanks to an 11 run fifth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jimmies started the scoring off in the top of the first with an RBI single up the middle off the bat of right fielder Adrian Warcken to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Jamestown scored another run in the top of the second on a throwing error by UCCS catcher Cayden Gonzalez to extend their lead to 2-0.
- The Mountain Lions answered in the bottom of the second with a duo of errors that allowed James Harbison to score and cut the Jimmies lead to 2-1.
- The Jimmies responded immediately as Trayson Kostial deposited the ball into right center field to make the lead 3-1 with his second home run of the year.
- UCCS scored quickly in the bottom of the third, as Bryce Peterson drove in Mathew Shipley after Shipley stole second to get into scoring position and moved the deficit to 3-2.
- Jamestown took their biggest lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning as back-to-back doubles by Grant Chapman and Mathieu Morin scored two runs and put them up 5-2.
- The Mountain Lions immediately trimmed down the Jimmies lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the fourth with a leadoff home run by James Harbison that welcomed relief pitcher Isaac Hanson into the game.
- Jamestown threatened in the top of the fifth loading the bases without an out, but UCCS reliver Benjamin Ruckman worked out of it only giving up one run and keeping the Mountain Lions in reach down 6-3.
- Jamestown reliever Ryan Morales struggled in the bottom of the fifth, giving up three straight walks and a two-run single off the bat of Cayden Gonzalez before exiting the game. Grayson Sargent, Morales' replacement, was welcomed in by an RBI single from Benjamin Pailes, and a two-run double by Tyler Genrich before getting pulled himself.
- Kai Mayfield came into the game and let two runs score on a Nolan Oliver double and a grand slam to James Harbison before finally ending the fifth inning. UCCS scored 11 runs total and took a commanding 14-6 lead.
- Jimmy third baseman Mason Shea solo homered to left field in the top of the sixth to make the score 14-7.
- Matthew Shipley pushed the UCCS lead back to 15-7 with a home run to left field in the bottom of the sixth inning.
- UCCS extended their lead to 16-7 in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single by Liam Whalen.
- UCCS reliever Josh Zotto finished the game for the Mountain Lions, pitching three scoreless innings and earning his first save of the season.
GAME STATISTICS
- James Harbison led the Mountain Lion offense with two big flies, including a grand slam. Harbison tallied five RBIs and three runs, leading the team in both categories.
- Matthew Shipley led the Mountain Lions in hits this afternoon with three, including a home run to tally his lone RBI. Shippley joined Harbison as the only two Mountain Lions to score three times.
- Six UCCS batters scored multiple times, with four collecting multiple RBIs.
- Benjamin Ruckman recorded his first win of the season, pitching two innings and giving up one run on just one hit. Joshua Zotto pitched very effectively out of the pen as he recorded his first save, throwing three scoreless innings, and giving up just one hit while striking out four.
- Ryan Morales received the loss for the Jimmies, getting just one out and giving up four runs and just one hit while walking three.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- With his save today, Zotto receives the second of his collegiate career, and first since February 2, 2025.
- With their sweep of the Jimmies the Mountain Lions secure their first four game sweep since March 8-10, 2025 when they swept Colorado Christian.
- Jamestown opens their Division II residency 0-4.

The Mountain Lions will head to Chico, Calif. as they take on Chico State in a four-game series. Game one will take place on Friday, February 20, at 3 p.m. (MT).
