HOW IT HAPPENED
- UCCS made it three straight days scoring first when Quinn Medin led off the Mountain Lion first inning with a double, then moving to third on a throwing error. Tyson Mayberry followed with a groundout but kept it to the right side allowing Medin to score.
- It took Fort Hays three innings to find paydirt, but they did so in a big way in the third. A lead off walk got the Tigers started, with Erick Ordonez blasting a two run homer two batters later. Tony Moore would then reach on a single, with Derek Woolwine following with a RBI double to the gap in left center field. Dylan Salcido kept it going with a second two run shot with two outs, totaling five runs in the inning for Fort Hays.
- UCCS scored the next three thanks to a Trevor Dale solo homer in the fourth, as UCCS manufactured another pair of runs in the fifth to pull within a run 5-4.
- The final four innings were eventful with the Tigers exploding for a13 run stretch in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, with UCCS fighting back with eight of their own. The UCCS effort would come up short, however, with the Mountain Lions falling 18-12 to drop the series, two games to one.
