Women’s Soccer Rises to No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches Week 2 National Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team ranks #19 in week two of the United Soccer Coaches National Poll after defeating St. Edward's 4-1 and suffering a 1-2 loss against now #5 Dallas Baptist. 

#1 Colorado School of Mines and #2 Cal Poly Pomona remain in the top two spots, with respective records of 3-0-0 and 4-0-0. After a 1-0 victory over #17 Central Missouri, Minnesota State University - Mankato continues to hold the No. 3 spot (2-0-1). With a record of 3-1-0, Colorado Mesa University rises from 15th to 12th place. Another RMAC representative rises in the poll as well - Westminster University (Utah) claims the No. 23 spot after being in the No. 25 spot last week. Regis University is also receiving votes after defeating Friends University (Kansas) 4-0 and #21 Seattle Pacific University 2-1. 

After traveling to Texas to compete in a pair of non-conference matches, the Mountain Lions (2-1-1) ended week two with a 4-1 victory over St. Edward's and 1-2 a loss against #5 Dallas Baptist. 

Four different Mountain Lions recorded goals in week two: senior midfielder Emily Aguilar, junior midfielder Luka Johnson, sophomore defender Malia Groshong, and redshirt sophomore forward Abby Stassi. Stassi remains the leading goal-scorer for the Mountain Lions, logging four goals this season. 

UCCS will kickoff at 6 p.m. tonight against the Air Force Academy at AFA Cadet Soccer Stadium, then take on Cal Poly Humboldt on September 20th at 2 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
