COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Head Women's Soccer Coach
J. B. Belzer announced seven student athletes that will join the Mountain Lions for the 2025 season. The class includes five true freshmen with two student athletes transferring to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs.
"2024-2025 saw our team evolve greatly as we gained experience, confidence, and competitive success with such a young team," commented Coach Belzer. "Layering in the outstanding seven additions in our 2025 recruiting class reinforces our path forward to championship level success familiar to Mountain Lion Women's Soccer. Our future is bright!"
Dylan Rees makes her way to Colorado Springs north from her hometown of Albuquerque, N.M. where she graduated from Hope Christian this spring. Championship soccer is a cornerstone of Rees' pedigree as she captured four state titles during her time in the Land of Enchantment. In goal for the Huskies Rees held a 94-5-2 record in her high school career.
"Dylan is a multi-year state HS champion between the sticks for Hope Christian," added Coach Belzer. "As her communication, confidence, and distribution grows, she'll earn the right to be our #1 in goal."
A native of the islands of Hawaii,
Mia Moss travels to the mainland as she looks to bolster the Mountain Lions defensive effort in her first year of collegiate action. A spring graduate of Mililani High School, Mia competed in Cross Country and Soccer as a prep athlete. Graduating Magna Cum Laude, Moss helped the Trojans to back to back state title match appearances, capturing the crown in 2023.
"A gifted central defender with high IQ and technical ability, Mia is keen to compete for minutes early in her Mountain Lion career," touted Coach Belzer. "A standout for Leahi SC, she continues the fine tradition of Hawaiian players finding successful playing and educational careers here at UCCS."
One of two transfers in the 2025 class,
Nylah Mirshafiei joins the Mountain Lions after two seasons at Cal State Monterey Bay. In her time with the Otters, Mirshafiei appeared in 15 games with a total of 1,325 minutes and 56 saves. The rising junior helped CSUMB to their first appearance in school history to the CCAA tournament, being the first women's soccer athlete from the institution to be named to the All-Tournament Team. Before making the jump to the college game, Mirshafiei graduated from Fountain Valley High School in Huntington Beach, Calif. where she owned a .817 save percentage with 10 career shutouts.
"Nylah had a great spring with us after transferring in January," shared Coach Belzer. "Learning our game model with the keeper so influential in our build-out, possession-based play, she arrives this fall season full of confidence and ready to compete for the #1 jersey."
Viktoria Valdimarsdottir comes to the Springs all the way from Hafnarfjorour, Iceland and brings her international experience to the Mountain Lions midfield for the 2025 campaign. Valdimarsdottir, who also competed in track and field in high school, helped her U19 team to the IFA Nationals in 2024, earning the Sportsmanship Award that same year. In 2023, she helped her FH squad to the 2023 championship.
"Viktoría is a great example of a player with great positional flexibility," said Coach Belzer. "Whether as a forward or midfielder, this Icelandic footballer possesses the skills to help our Mountain Lions succeed."
Kaite Collins moves east after graduating from Coronado High School in Coronado, Calif. this spring, and brings leadership experience with her from her prep career. A two-year team captain for the Islanders, Collins was named Rookie of the Year and MVP during her high school tenure. Topping off her Coronado High School stint with the Islanders' first Open Division Championship in the schools history, Collins looks to continue her postseason success in Colorado Springs with the Mountain Lions.
"A multi-sport athlete who is also positionally flexible, Katie will find success with her athletic gifts and warrior mentality as she competes for roles within our squad," Belzer noted. "Her commitment to winning is outstanding."
Addison Buehler chooses UCCS after completing her time at Valor Christian High School just up the road in Highlands Ranch, Colo. A three-year varsity athlete with the Eagles, Buehler earned All-State accolades for both her on field play, and her academic prowess away from the pitch. Buehler, who helped Valor Christian qualify for the CHSAA 5A state tournament all three years with the varsity squad, brings her postseason proven game to the Olympic City ahead to the 2025 season.
"Helping her Valor Christian HS team to the 5A state semi-final this spring as captain, Addison will strengthen a backline that is growing in confidence and ability as we seek to become RMAC Champions once again," said Coach Belzer.
Noelia Garcia Vicente rounds out the class as the remaining transfer of the group, coming to UCCS from Glenville State where she spent two seasons as a Pioneer. Originally from Valladolid, Spain, Vicente played in the 2RFEF National League and started in the Queen's Cup competition. She was the top scorer for the CD Parquesol B side with nine goals, capturing the league championship with the squad, seeing the team promoted to the 3RFEF National League in result.
"We see great potential for Noelia to thrive in our game model that demands technical execution and positional interchange," Coach Belzer shared. "Her Spanish roots will be on display as Noelia dominates opponents in all phases of play."
The Mountain Lions begin their season on September 4
