COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team falls 12-4 and 10-6 to Colorado State University Pueblo in the final two games of the regular season.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE
- After UCCS starting pitcher Jacob Brown retired the side in the first, the Mountain Lions jumped ahead early in their first at bat as Mikey Brinton hit a deep sacrifice fly to center field to score third baseman Bryce Peterson to make it 1-0 heading into the second.
- CSU Pueblo's first base runner came in the third inning and would eventually score on an RBI double down the left field line to tie the game at one run apiece. The next two CSUP batters would record an RBI each to give them a 3-1 lead through two and a half innings. UCCS would respond in the bottom of the third when Peterson hit an RBI single to left field to score the speedy Quinn Medin and move the score to 3-2 with four innings to play in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
- The ThunderWolves added two more to their score in the fourth on a two-run homerun to take a 5-2 lead before retiring the Mountain Lions in order in the bottom half. The Pack would post three more in the fifth as they began to hit their stride offensively to make it an 8-2 game through four and a half innings.
- The Mountain Lions would lessen their deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning when Kasey Campbell sent a solo homerun to right center field before Tyler Buchman hit an RBI double to center to score Aaron Jenkins and make it 8-4 heading into the final inning of action.
- The Pack would tack on four more runs on four hits in the top of the seventh to bump their lead up to eight with a half inning left to play. The Mountain Lions would go scoreless in the bottom of the seventh as CSUP took a 12-4 victory.
GAME STATISTICS | GAME ONE
- The Mountain Lions recorded eight hits to the Pack's 13.
- Jacob Brown (0-3) was credited with his third loss of the season, pitching four and two-thirds innings allowing eight runs on eight hits with three strikeouts.
- Tyler Clementz (3-2) was credited with his third win of the season, pitching five and two-thirds innings with four runs allowed and five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME TWO
- The Mountain Lions' starting pitcher Joe McDermott pitched a scoreless first inning before Kit Wigington hit a two-run homerun to right field in the bottom half to quickly go up 2-0. Despite the early deficit, the ThunderWolves' bats came alive in the second inning when they took a 3-2 lead on four hits.
- The Pack would plate another run in the top of the third inning on a triple and an error to make it 4-2 through two and a half. First baseman Caleb Stubbings would knock in a run in the bottom of the third with a single to left center field to bring UCCS back within one.
- The Mountain Lions ran into some trouble in the top of the fourth inning when CSUP scored three runs on two hits with three hit batsmen to go up 7-3. UCCS would not score in the fourth, but they would land a runner in scoring position with one out in the fifth when Hayden Iverson hit a double to left field. Iverson would not come around to score as the game stayed at 7-3 with two innings left to play.
- Both teams went scoreless in the sixth inning but not the seventh as CSUP added three more runs to their lead to go up 10-3. UCCS would load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning but scored just three as the ThunderWolves took a 10-6 victory.
GAME STATISTICS | GAME TWO
- Caleb Chance and Vander Hodges tied for the team lead in RBIs on Friday with two apiece.
- Joe McDermott (2-3) tallies his third loss of the season, pitching three and two-thirds innings and allowed seven earned runs.
- Nick Perry (6-2) tallies his sixth win of the season, pitching five and two-thirds innings with five strikeouts and one walk, along with three earned runs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Mountain Lions will play in the RMAC Tournament for the first time since the 2022 season with game times for Wednesday to be determined.
