UCCS BASEBALL SEASON IN-REVIEW
  • The University of Colorado Colorado Springs baseball team enjoyed a bounce back season in 2025 as they added seven wins from their total from the spring of 2024, returning to the postseason for the first time since 2022.
  • The Mountain Lions got off to a strong start to the season as they opened on the road with a pair of non-conference weekends. Their first series was a round robin weekend in Tucson, Ariz. that featured a pair of games against Wayne State, and a pair of games against the University of Mary. A one-run loss (6-7) to the Marauders of the University of Mary was the only setback of the first weekend, as UCCS then traveled to Tahlequah, Okla. for a four-game set with Northeastern State, which they split. Two weeks into the year, UCCS held a 5-3 record, as they returned to the Springs for their first home action of the season.
  • The Mountain Lions continued their momentum in their first home games of the year, as they took two of three games in another split opponent weekend. With three games on the docket, UCCS played Adams State in a single game before facing Colorado School of Mines in the final two contests. UCCS dropped the finale 8-7 to CSM but still captured the weekend going 2-1 in the three tilts.
  • The Mountain Lions then embarked on a stretch where they won seven of eight games played, with every win coming against the Colorado Chirstian, the first three in the final non-conference series of the early season, and the final four wins also over CCU to start Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action. The lone loss was a narrow 8-9 affair to Regis University in a neutral site game with Regis University in Lakewood, Colo.
  • The scales then tipped back to even for UCCS as the squad then dropped seven of eight against Regis and Adams State in RMAC action, with the lone win of the skid coming in an 8-4 triumph over ASU.
  • Sitting at 15-12, UCCS hit the road for a six-game stretch comprised of four games in Las Vegas, N.M. against New Mexico Highlands University, then a pair in Hays, Kan. Against the then 22nd ranked Tigers of Fort Hays State University. UCCS took three of four in New Mexico in a series that saw the Mountain Lions turn not one, but two triple plays in consecutive games, with UCCS splitting their doubleheader with the Tigers in Kansas the following weekend.
  • The Mountain Lions returned home for a weekend series against the 13th ranked, and perennial RMAC favorite Colorado Mesa, with their work cutout for them as the Mavericks came in with just one conference loss. UCCS then put the conference on notice as they split the series with CMU, winning the first game 14-8 then walking off the Mavericks in the series finale 11-10 behind six unanswered runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
  • UCCS' trip to Golden, Colo. for a series with Colorado School of Mines on Easter Weekend was halved due to weather in the foothills, as the teams only got two of their four scheduled games in. The teams each took a game for their own, as UCCS turned their attention to the final two series of the season.
  • With eight games remaining, UCCS needed just one win to capture a berth in the RMAC postseason, and though they got the win vs CSU Pueblo in the final series of the season, that would be the only win of their final eight games as they were swept in the state capital by MSU Denver, before CSUP took three of four in Colorado Springs.
  • The Mountain Lions made their first appearance in the RMAC Baseball Tournament since 2022 as they headed to Grand Junction as the sixth and final seed in the field. UCCS, however, could not find success in Mesa County as they were downed 9-3 by Colorado Mesa and 6-4 by Adams State to bring the season to a close. The squad closed the year with a 23-26 record, improving over the 2024 season by seven wins.
