Mancuso, Wigington, and Zotto Highlight Ten Baseball RMAC All-Academic Honorees

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions feature three baseball selections to the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic First Team with seven others named to the Honor Roll announced by the conference office Thursday.

The RMAC All-Academic team and honor roll are nominated and voted on by the leagues 9 sports information directors with emphasis on players that excel both on the field and in the classroom. To be eligible for the First-Team, players must carry a current cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 and have completed at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters at their current institution while also using a season of eligibility. The purpose of RMAC All-Academic awards is to honor the players around the league that exemplify what it means to be a student athlete.

Colorado Mesa's junior right hander Gauge Lockhart repeats the All-Academic Player of the Year after helping the Mavericks to their 13th straight RMAC regular season title, and CMU's second consecutive postseason conference tournament crown. The native of Delta, Colo. leads the conference academically in his business studies.

Junior right hander Ryder Mancuso, and sophomore reliever Joshua Zotto both earn their first selection to the All-Academic First Team as they are joined by Kit Wigington who earns his third First Team Selection. The trio leads seven of their teammates who were named to the Honor Roll.

Junior Starting Pitcher Ryder Mancuso enjoyed a career season this spring as he earned a spot in the rotation to start the year, before overtaking the top spot of the staff midseason. Appearing in 14 games with 13 starts, the Palisade, Colo. native tossed two complete performances that each led him to his pair of RMAC Player of the Week selections on the season. Mancuso turned in a stellar spring as he finished the season with a 7.41 ERA and a 5-3 record in his eight decisions. Having thrown 68 complete innings Mancuso led the UCCS pitching staff with 59 strikeouts, a career high.
 
Senior Designated Hitter Kit Wigington has been on the RMAC All-Academic First Team three out of his four seasons with UCCS Baseball, being named to the honor roll last year he has been recognized for his academic prowess all four years. A Mechanical Engineering major, Kit has displayed a masterclass in what it means to be a student athlete, even being named the UCCS Athletics Male Student Athlete of the Year last May. This season, Wigington was a reliable source of offense at the dish with his .379 batting average, scoring 38 runs and driving in another 42. Wigington also set the program record for total bases, as he finishes his career with 404.
 
Sophomore relief pitcher Joshua Zotto continued his dominance out of the bullpen in his second season with UCCS, appearing in 15 games in relief to finish with an ERA of 2.66 and a perfect 3-0 record for the Mountain Lions. One of two UCCS pitchers that earned decisions on the season without any losses, Zotto proved to be one of the toughest bullpen arms in the conference. Opposing hitters hit just .274 against the right hander, as he only allowed seven extra base hits during his season.
