15 Mountain Lions Selected for 2025 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The NCAA announced the selected participant field for the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Tuesday afternoon, with a total of 15 student-athletes from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field teams being selected to compete across 11 individual entries and two relay entries at the national meet on May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colo.  
 
The UCCS men's track & field team qualified 11 student-athletes to compete across six individual entries and two relay entries:
  • Junior Sebastien Jean will make his first career appearance at the outdoor national championship meet as the No. 6 seed in the men's 400m dash with a season-best converted time of 46.15s. The preliminary round of the 400m will start at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 with the top finishers in each of the three heats being joined by the next five fastest times as qualifiers the event final on Saturday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m.
  • A two-time First Team All-American in the event, redshirt junior Jagger Zlotoff is set to make an appearance in the men's 1500m race for the third consecutive outdoor season and will enter the competition as the No. 12 seed with his season-best time of 3:42.85. Zlotoff will toe the line for the preliminary round of the 1500m at 5:25 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 and the top four finishers in the two heats along with the next four fastest times will advance to the event final on Saturday, May 24 at 5:45 p.m.
  • The Mountain Lions are set to send their 4x100m relay squad consisting of Daryn Ofori-Kuragu, Kymani Sterling, Donovan Mini, and Jean to the outdoor national meet for the first time since the 2023 outdoor campaign with a season-best converted time of 40.06s that ranks 10th overall in the field. The opening round of the 4x100m relay will start at 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 with eight teams advancing to the event final on Saturday, May 24 at 5:20 p.m., including the top two finishers in each of the two heats and the next four fastest times.  
  • For the first time in program history, the Mountain Lions qualified their 4x400m relay team for the outdoor national championship with Jean, Peyton Nelson, Sean Donelson, and Ashton Whisler posting a season-best time of 3:07.04 that sits as the third-ranked time in the field. The preliminary round of the men's 4x400m relay is set to begin at 8:05 p.m. on Friday, May 23 with the top two finishers in the two heats along with the next four fastest times moving on to the event final on Saturday, May 24 at 9:05 p.m.
  • A redshirt senior from Loomis, Calif., Caiden Macktinger will make his first appearance at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships in the pole vault after earning a pair of qualifications to the NCAA West Preliminary Round at the NCAA Division I level while competing at the United States Air Force Academy. Macktinger, who will be in action at 11:05 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, is set to enter the competition with a season-best mark of 5.07m that ranks tied for 17th in the field.
  • Junior Kyle Demos will put his talents on display at the national level for the first time in his collegiate career as he qualified in both the shot put as the No. 20 seed with a season-best mark of 17.66m and the discus throw as the No. 17 seed with a season-best toss of 54.30m. The third-year thrower will kick off his weekend in the discus throw on Friday, May 23 at 5 p.m. before competing in the shot put at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 24.
  • Senior Luke Hard is set to compete at the outdoor national championship meet for the first time in his collegiate career as he posted the eighth-furthest mark in the hammer throw field at 62.42m. Hard will step into the throws ring for his first toss at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.
The Mountain Lion women's team will have four student-athletes competing at the outdoor national meet across a total of five individual entries.
  • Senior Anna Fauske will have a busy weekend ahead of her as she qualified in the 5,000m race for the third consecutive year and in the 10,000m race for the first time in her collegiate career. In the 5,000m, Fauske enters the competition as the No. 18 seed with a season-best converted time of 16:21.36 and will toe the line at 8:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 24. The fourth-year runner will open the 10,000m as one of the favorites to win the race as she holds the No. 2 seed in the event at a time of 33:22.66. The women's 10K race is set to begin at 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.
  • Redshirt senior Rachel Richtman is set to make her first career appearance at the outdoor national championship meet as the No. 20 seed in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with a season-best converted time of 10:32.81. The preliminary round of the event will start at 6:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 22 with the top four finishers in each of the two heats along with the next four fastest times advancing to the final on Friday, May 24 at 7:15 p.m.
  • A two-time All-American at the community college level, senior Victoria Malaki will make her first appearance at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships as the No. 10 seed in the women's discus throw with her season-best mark of 49.46m. Malaki will kick off the action for the Mountain Lions on Friday, May 23 as the women's discus throw is set to start at 2 p.m.
  • Junior Savannah Jorgens rounds out the qualifiers for UCCS as she is set to make her outdoor national championship debut as the No. 20 seed in the women's hammer throw with a season-best mark of 56.71m. The women's hammer throw final is set to begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22.
