HOW IT HAPPENED

- Fink had a dominant outing, though he allowed all seven of the Wildcats hits, none would come around to score, as Wayne State marooned eight baserunners in the season opener.
- The Mountain Lions would add four runs in the fourth inning, to push the lead to an even more cushioned 9-0.
- Fink would give way to James Harbison who made his UCCS debut after transferring from Northeastern Junior College. Harbison was very effective as he fanned two hitters and walked just one on his way to two scoreless innings for UCCS.
- Colton Trudeau came on in the top of the eighth inning and shut the door as he set the Wildcats down scoreless, allowing UCCS to secure the mercy rule scoring their tenth run in the bottom half of the inning to open the year with the 10-0 victory.
