COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll was announced Tuesday afternoon with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs receiving 16 points to earn the No. 3 selection in the six-team poll.  The Mountain Lions finished the 2024 season owning a 7-9 overall record and a 5-5 mark in league matches.

Regis University, the defending RMAC regular season and tournament champions, is the preseason favorite to win the league after receiving all five first-place votes for 25 points. Colorado Mesa University is selected second in the coaches' poll (21 points), followed by UCCS, Westminster University (14 points), Colorado State University Pueblo (eight points), and Fort Lewis College (six points).

The six head coaches voted in the preseason poll and could not vote for their own team.

UCCS is under new leadership this year with first-year head coach Brice Queener.  The Mountain Lions return 20 players from last year's squad, including eight starters and the RMAC Freshman of the Year, Sarah Urbanic, while welcoming nine new players to the program.

A trio of Mountain Lions have been picked for the RMAC Players to Watch List – Kendra Knutson, Erica Rivera, and Sarah Urbanic.

A junior defender from Savage, Minn., Kendra Knutson is one of two Mountain Lions returning to have started all 16 games last season.  A 2024 All-RMAC Second Team selection, Knutson collected 31 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers in her sophomore campaign.

Named to the All-RMAC Second Team last year, Erica Rivera started 13 games and competed in all 16.  The senior midfielder finished the season with 12 goals, 12 assists, 35 shots, 19 shots on goal, and 34 ground balls.  The Highlands Ranch, Colo. native led the team in draw controls (45) and caused turnovers (16) while ranking eighth in the league in draw controls per game (2.81).

Sophomore attacker Sarah Urbanic is coming off a solid freshman season where she was named the RMAC Freshman of the Year and the UCCS Female Newcomer of the Year.  In 16 games and four starts, she racked up 25 goals, four assists, 60 goals, 43 shots on goal, five player-up goals, 11 ground balls, and she won 23 draws.  From Carlsbad, Calif., Urbanic posted seven multiple-goal games, including four hat tricks.

The Mountain Lions are slated to open the 2025 season at home on February 25 against Davenport.  The first draw is set for 2 p.m. at Mountain Lion Stadium.
