COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team defeats California State University, Dominguez Hills, 4-3, Wednesday night inside Mountain Lion Stadium.

All-Time Series: Wednesday night's matchup against the Toros was the first in UCCS program history, UCCS is now 1-0-0 in the series.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior midfielder Emily Aguilar started the scoring for the Mountain Lions on Wednesday night with an open-look goal into the right side of the net in the seventh minute. Three minutes later, Aguilar found the back of the Toros' goal again off the assist by graduate forward Amelia McManus, marking her second and third goals of the season.
- UCCS continued to maintain possession for the majority of the first half, registering eight additional shots with five being on goal as the Toros recorded just two shots with one on goal.
- The second-half scoring began with a penalty kick goal in the 68th minute from sophomore midfielder Taylynn Levi into the bottom right corner for her first goal of the season after sophomore midfielder Luka Johnson was fouled in the penalty area, converting the Mountain Lions' first penalty kick goal of the year.
- The Mountain Lions' fourth goal of the game came in the 75th minute off the foot of freshman forward Brooke Pavlich off the assist of freshman midfielder Sophia Broberg. Pavlich's second half goal was the first of her collegiate career.
- Aguilar was not the only player with a brace on Wednesday night, as Alyssa Edwards of CSUDH began the scoring for the Toros approximately 15 seconds after Pavlich's goal. In the 85th minute, Edwards floated a header over UCCS freshman goalkeeper Alexa Malaspina off the assist of Emma Arkus to cut the lead down to two.
- The seventh and final goal of the match came from a soft roller into the bottom left corner by CSUDH's Lauryn Bailey who was assisted by Alyssa Villalobos in the 88th minute.
STATS FROM THE GAME
- The Mountain Lions outshot CSUDH 16-9 with 10 shots on goal to the Toros' six. UCCS also led the game in corner kicks with four while CSUDH took only two.
- Levi, Aguilar, McManus, Pavlich, Fie Steenberg, and Abby Stassi were the six Mountain Lions who logged a shot on frame during Wednesday's match as Aguilar recorded the most with four.
- Malaspina saw the field for the entire 90 minutes and saved three shots while allowing three goals.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- UCCS moves to 1-0-0 all-time against CSUDH after their first-ever meeting Wednesday night.
- Pavlich scored her first collegiate goal in the 75th minute.
- Aguilar recorded her first career brace with her two goals in the first half and is now over the halfway mark of her season-best point total of 13 with seven.
- The Mountain Lions converted their first penalty kick goal of the season with Levi's tally in the 68thminute.
- Wednesday night was the fifth time UCCS has surrendered three goals under head coach J.B. Belzer and the first time since Nov. 2, 2022, against Regis University.
