Location: CSUP ThunderBowl | Pueblo, Colo.
Elevation: 4,848 ft.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior Kate Hedlund shaved over a full second off her season-best in the women's 1500m as she finished third overall in the race with a converted time of 4:24.74. Hedlund entered the day ranked 20th in the nation for the event and is likely to see a slight rise with her improvement today.
  • UCCS had a pair of student-athletes run below the NCAA provisional qualifying threshold in the women's 3,000m steeplechase with senior Nadine Almasri taking fourth place at a converted time of 10:54.25 and redshirt sophomore Molly Breuer claiming fifth place at a converted time of 11:02.08. Breuer and Almasri both entered the day ranked inside the top-30 in the country for the event, with Breuer sitting 21st and Almasri ranking 28th on the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Qualifying List.
  • In the men's 800m, junior Joseph Hamilton raced around the track in a converted time of 1:54.18 to secure a third-place finish. His mark today was just off his season-best converted time of 1:51.98 that he recorded last weekend at the 2024 RMAC Outdoor Championships and just shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying time for the men's 800m, which is set at 1:51.23 this season.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • With just one weekend of competition remaining before the announcement of the participants for the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships, the UCCS men's and women's teams have combined to accrue 38 NCAA provisional qualifying marks, including 20 from the men's team and 18 from the women's team.
UP NEXT
  • The Mountain Lions will compete at two more last chance meets next Saturday, May 11, as the sprinters, jumpers, and throwers will head to Kearney, Neb., to compete at the Loper Twilight while a small group of distance runners will make their way to Azusa, Calif., to race at Azusa Pacific University's Franson Last Chance Meet.
