COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team had a handful of throwers competing at the Air Force Twilight Open on Friday with the highlights of the afternoon being NCAA provisional qualifying tosses from
Luke Hard in the men's hammer throw and
Victoria Malaki in the women's discus throw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hard posted the first of two NCAA provisional qualifying marks on the day for the Mountain Lions as he matched his personal and season best in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 57.91m to finish sixth overall. Sophomore Michael Roberts was also in action in the men's hammer throw as he claimed seventh place with a mark of 53.71m.
- Malaki brought home the second NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the afternoon for UCCS in the women's discus throw, where she finished third overall with a mark of 45.75m.
- Redshirt senior Anna Holland earned a third-place finish in the women's hammer throw as she reached 51.64m on her fifth throw of the afternoon.
- In the men's discus throw, sophomore Kyle Demos came up just shy of his season-best (50.42m) as he posted a mark of 49.50m to finish fifth overall in the field of 12 throwers.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- Holland and Malaki both entered the weekend ranked inside the top-20 in their respective events on the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Outdoor Qualifying List with Holland sitting 17th in the nation for the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 55.01m and Malaki ranked 19th in the country for the discus throw with a season-best mark of 46.82m.
- On the men's version of the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Qualifying List, Hard entered Friday's action ranked 30th in the hammer throw with his season-best toss of 57.91m.

- UCCS will be back in action tomorrow morning with a small group of distance runners set to compete at the CSU Pueblo Last Chance Meet in Pueblo, Colo.
