EMPORIA, Kan. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs track & field team concluded action from the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday with the women's team finishing tied for 34th overall with 6 points and the men's team finishing tied for 52nd overall with 2 points. Individually, the Mountain Lions had three student-athletes earn All-America honors on the final day of the national championship meet, including two first team accolades and one second team honor.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Redshirt sophomore Jagger Zlotoff got the action started for the Mountain Lions on the third and final day of the outdoor national championship meet, putting forth an incredible effort in the men's 1500m that saw him cross the finish line in seventh place overall at a time of 3:55.13. With his finish, Zlotoff scored two points for the UCCS men's team and secured First Team All-America honors in the event for the second consecutive outdoor season.
- Senior Melissa Moreni picked up First Team All-America honors in the women's 100m hurdles for the third consecutive outdoor season, crossing the finish line in fifth place with a blazing time of 13.78s. Her finish also scored four points for the UCCS women's team.
- In the women's 1500m, senior Kate Hedlund garnered All-America honors for the third straight outdoor season as she clocked a time of 4:28.22 to finish ninth overall and bring home second team accolades.
- Fauske rounded out the competition for UCCS in the women's 5,000m final, racing to a third place finish with a time of 17:22.49.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- After her fifth-place finish today, Moreni joined Shannon Payne and Hannah Meek as one of just three student-athletes in women's program history to earn three outdoor First Team All-America honors.
- With her performance in the 1500m today, Hedlund earned All-America distinction for the third time in her career after securing second team accolades in 2022 and first team honors in 2023. She joins Moreni, Payne, Meek, and Kaija Crowe as one of just five women's student-athletes in program history to secure at least three first and/or second team All-America accolades for the outdoor season.
- By earning All-America honors in the men's 1500m for the second consecutive year, Zlotoff joined Moses Tum as one of just two men's student-athletes to secure multiple First Team All-America accolades in the event.
