COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kennedale, Texas native Jayla Jackson-Allen has inked a National Letter of Intent to play women's basketball for the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Mountain Lions next season, announced Tuesday afternoon by UCCS head coach
Misty Wilson.
"We are excited to have a player like Jayla come into our program," said Wilson. "She has experienced some adversity in her basketball journey that has really helped shape and fuel her to be the best player she can be. That passion will serve her well as she makes the transition to our program. I believe Jayla's ability to control pace, distribute the ball, and be a consistent outside threat will make her transition to our program easy. I am confident she is ready to embrace this opportunity and will have a positive impact on our campus."
Jackson-Allen will graduate this spring from Brewer High School where she averaged 20 points, three rebounds, seven steals and seven assists while shooting the ball at a 47 percent clip. Prior to attending BHS, Jackson-Allen spent the 2020-23 seasons at Kennedale High School. As a freshman, she was named the Newcomer of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Academic All-District. One year later, the 5-foot-5 point guard was named Defensive MVP, TABC All-Region, and Academic All-District. Her junior year was filled with Offensive Player of the Year, All-District First Team, TABC All-Region and Academic All-District accolades. As a senior, she was named Academic All-District for the fourth straight year, and the Offensive Player of the Year for the third time in her career.
Jackson-Allen helped her teams win District and Bi-District championships all four years. A member of the National Honor Society, she will graduate in the top 10 percent of her class.
Jackson-Allen is joining Gia Bradley, Ellie Reynolds and Ellen Silva in the 2024-25 women's basketball recruiting class.
