HOW IT HAPPENED | GAME ONE

- Hayden Iverson started things off for the UCCS offense with a single to right field. Kit Wigington followed with an opposite field double to score Iverson and the Mountain Lions saw themselves up 1-0. Caleb Stubbings drove in the next two runs with his first homerun of the season and UCCS commanded a 3-0 advantage after one.
- Starting pitcher Colton Trudeau shut down the Rangers attack in the top of the second and the Mountain Lions repaid this effort instantly. Wigington smacked a two-run dinger over the right field fence, followed by Stubbings who hit his second homerun in two innings, and finally Kasey Campbell who trailed that with a solo shot of his own. UCCS would hold a comfortable 7-0 lead heading into the third inning.
- Trudeau ran into trouble in the top of third as Regis found themselves with the bases loaded and one down. Trudeau kept his composure and forced a huge 6-4-3 inning ending double play against the Rangers three-hole hitter. Iverson tacked on another run for the Mountain Lions in the bottom of the third, scoring in Dillion Vroman from first base on a double down the left field line to make the score 8-0 UCCS.
- The Rangers got themselves on the board with a solo homer in the top of the fourth and a wild pitch to make it 8-2. With two down and runners on third and first, Iverson made an outstanding diving catch deep in center field to end the inning.
- Continuing his amazing performance, Stubbings hit his third homerun in his third consecutive at bat over the right field fence to make it 9-2 UCCS going into the fifth inning.
- Cole Phillip entered for Trudeau after a leadoff walk in the top of the fifth and the Rangers attacked, pulling this game within three (9-6). To open the bottom of the fifth, Brady Lachemann led off with a single shadowed by Iverson who collected his fourth hit and second double of the day. The Regis pitcher balked home both Lachemann and Iverson making it 11-6. UCCS added three more later in the inning and entered the sixth with an eight-run lead (14-6).
- The Rangers tallied two more in the sixth after a two-run homer from Levi Padilla making it 14-8. UCCS went one-two-three in the bottom of the sixth and looked to close it out in the top of the seventh.
- The Rangers threatened in the final inning, but Garrett Shriver shut them down and closed out the 14-12 victory for UCCS.
