PUEBLO, Colo. – Trailing by seven goals at halftime and as many as eight in the third quarter, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team stormed back in the second half to outscore Colorado State University Pueblo, 11-3, and earn a 16-15 road win Friday evening in Pueblo, Colo. Tonight's win secured a spot for the Mountain Lions in the 2024 RMAC championship tournament as the No. 3 or No. 4 seed.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER: CSUP 6, UCCS 3
- After the game-opening score from the ThunderWolves Baylee Mee, Erica Rivera won the ensuing draw that led to Emma Grace Martin driving down the right center side of the attack zone for the equalizing goal, 1-1. Brielle Fannin added the second game-tying goal for UCCS when she weaved through the left side of the defense for a 2-2 score. Sarah Urbanic put UCCS up 3-2 on a free-position, player-up goal with 6:18 left in the first quarter, but the Pack rattled off three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead after the opening stanza.
SECOND QUARTER: CSUP 6, UCCS 2
- Just sixty-two seconds into the second stanza, Fannin connected with Martin for her second goal of the game, but the two-goal deficit for UCCS went back to three goals, 7-4, when Mee netted her fifth goal of the game. Trailing 8-4 with 8:20 left in the half, Allie Schell zipped in a pass to a slashing Julia Patrick, bringing UCCS with three of CSUP, 8-5. The ThunderWolves took their three-goal lead and tacked on four unassisted goals to end the half and command a 12-5 lead over UCCS at halftime.
THIRD QUARTER: UCCS 5, CSUP 2
- The Mountain Lions' seven goal deficit to start the second half dwindled down to four goals after three quarters of action, 14-10. Patrick and Sarah Urbanic strung together three straight goals to bring UCCS within five, 13-8. Patrick started the run with an unassisted goal before Urbanic made a spin move in front of the goal. She followed that goal with a free-position goal at the 10:29 mark. A CSUP goal at 7:44 was quickly answered 44 seconds later as Urbanic scored another free-position goal, her third consecutive goal, before Peyton Ross closed the third quarter on a free-position score with 22 ticks left in the stanza.
FOURTH QUARTER: UCCS 6, CSUP 1
- Allie Schell started the final quarter with back-to-back goals before Patrick put one in the back of the net on a free-position goal. Sydnee-Anne Moeller joined the scoring action when she tallied her first goal of the season after driving in from the left side and firing a rocket from six meters out while Fannin's goal with 2:55 knotted the game at 15-15. UCCS' Kathryn Kossack took possession of a Pack turnover that led to a green card on the home team. Playing with a player-up on the field, Schell scored her third goal of the quarter and the game-winning goal with 27 ticks left on the clock to seal the win, 16-15.
FINAL SCORE: UCCS 16, CSUP 15
GAME STATISTICS
- Five Mountain Lions scored multiple goals against the Pack this afternoon. Urbanic notched a team high four goals on nine shots while Patrick and Schell each chipped in three goals apiece.
- Fannin netted two scores and assisted on one while two of Martin's six shot attempts found the back of the net.
- Avery Beck-Davis and Kossack each caused three turnovers as Urbanic won a team high six draws.
- Five of the Mountain Lions' 16 goals today were scored on the free position. Three of Urbanic's four goals were scored from the free position.
- UCCS outshot the ThunderWolves, 40-33, and 29-27 in shots on goal. The Mountain Lions won 19 of the 34 draws and were successful on 15-of-17 clear attempts.
- CSUP's Baylee Mee notched a game high five goals and six points.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Patrick's free-position goal at 7:46 in the fourth quarter was her 32nd career free-position goal, making her the all-time leader in free-position goals at UCCS. She also became the all-time leader in shot attempts, breaking Natalie Church's record of 265.
- Three of Urbanic's four goals were scored on the free position.
- UCCS set team highs today with 40 shots, 29 shot attempts and 13 caused turnovers.
