DURANGO, Colo. –
Allie Schell accounted for seven points to help the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse team power past Fort Lewis College Sunday afternoon in Durango Colo., 12-7. Today's win and Westminster University's loss to Colorado Mesa University secured the Mountain Lions as the No. 3 seed in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER: UCCS 3, FLC 2
- Kendra Knutson picked up a ground ball on the Mountain Lions defensive end of the field and ran down to the Skyhawks attacking zone where she fed it off to Brielle Fannin who made a quick pass to Allie Schell to tie the game at 1-1. Schell then found Jaden Sellers for a player-up goal on a free-position set play with 4:48 left in the first quarter. FLC's Caprietta Abbadessa tied the game at 2-2 before the Mountain Lions took possession of the ball off a Skyhawk turnover. With each team playing a player-down, Schell assisted Fannin to complete the play and put UCCS up 3-2 with just 26 seconds left in the opening stanza.
SECOND QUARTER: UCCS 5, FLC 1
- The Skyhawks chipped in a goal 35 seconds into the second quarter, but the Mountain Lions offense took over to score five straight goals. Julia Patrick notched back-to-back goals before Casey Good joined the scoring party on a free-position goal at 6:19. Brennan Kelly boosted UCCS' lead to 7-3 when she scooped up a loose ball in front of the goal and shoveled it into the goal. Schell recorded her third assist of the game when she found Sarah Urbanic with 1:08 left in the first half to give the visiting team an 8-3 lead at the half.
THIRD QUARTER: FLC 2, UCCS 0
- The blue and gold cut into UCCS' lead in the third quarter, scoring two goals and holding the Mountain Lions scoreless on four shot attempts.
FOURTH QUARTER: UCCS 4, FLC 2
- The Mountain Lions found their stride in the final stanza, outscoring the Skyhawks 4-2. UCCS took advantage of five penalties committed by FLC, as all four goals from Sarah Urbanic, Patrick, and Schell (two goals) were player-up goals.
FINAL SCORE: UCCS 12, FLC 7
GAME STATISTICS
- Schell posted a game high seven points behind four assists and three goals. Patrick added another three goals behind five shot attempts. All five of Patrick's goals were on target.
- Erica Rivera and Peyton Ross were dominant in the circle, winning four draws apiece.
- Goalkeeper Madison McGriff played all 60 minutes between the posts, making 10 saves and adding three ground balls.
- Meghan Weiss led the defensive unit with one caused turnover and four ground balls.
- The Mountain Lions outshot the Skyhawks, 34-21 (23-17 shots on goal) and won 12 of 22 draws.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Patrick recorded five shots on goal to become the all-time shots on goal leader at UCCS (207).
- Schell tied the Mountain Lions season high marks in points (Patrick) and assists (Fannin), notching seven and four, respectively.
- Schell moves up to a tie for second all-time in player-up goals (eight) while Urbanic moves to sixth all-time (tied) with five.
- The Mountain Lions closed out the regular season on a three-game winning streak, their longest of the season.
