COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's lacrosse head coach
Brice Queener has announced his first signing class for the Mountain Lions. Joining the lacrosse program in 2025-26 will be Bella Everett, Charlotte Fannin, Addie Hammes, Josie Leonard, Ella Mills, Abigail Scanlon, and Maddie Tlapa.
"We're extremely excited about this group of student-athletes," said Queener. "Every one of them has the ability to make a positive impact in the classroom, community, and on the lacrosse field."
From Porter Ranch, Calif., Bella Everett is an attacker and midfielder for the Village Christian High School Crusaders. In three seasons at the prep level, Everett has accumulated 144 goals, 66 assists, and picked up 256 ground balls. She had a breakout season last year as a junior, netting 86 goals, assisting on 44 others, and notching 157 ground balls. An all-league second-team performer as a freshman, Everett earned all-league first-team as a sophomore and junior and was the team MVP last year. She helped the Crusaders advance to the third round of the state playoffs in 2022 and 2023, and the second round in 2024.
Charlotte Fannin will be joining her older sister,
Brielle Fannin, next year. An attacker from Lakeville, Minn., Fannin tallied 36 goals and 41 assists for seven points as a junior last season for the Lakeville South High School Cougars. In her sophomore campaign, she notched 62 points behind 27 goals and 35 points. In the past two seasons, Fannin has been named to the all-state academic team, all-section first-team, and all-conference first-team, and earned all-state second-team honors as a junior last year. She was part of the LSHS teams that won two state championships, three sectional championships, and three conference championships. The Cougars won the 2024 state title after going undefeated at 19-0.
Fannin's teammate at Lakeville South High School, Addie Hammes, will also be joining the Mountain Lions next year. A defender who also won two state championships, and three conference and sectional championships, Hammes received all-state first team, all-conference first team, all-section first team, and All-Metro Star Tribune first team honors following her sophomore and junior seasons. A 2024 All-American, she has been named the team's Most Valuable Defender three times. The five-time honor roll student is also a part of the Faith Club and National Honors Society.
Josie Leonard comes to UCCS from Cottage Grove, Minn. where she will be entering her senior season at Park High School. The five-time girl's lacrosse letterwinner for the Wolfpack has been named to the all-section second team once, all-section first team twice, and all-conference three times. The three-sport athlete has also lettered three times in soccer and four times in hockey. On the soccer pitch, she has received all-conference and honorable mention all-conference accolades.
One of four Minnesotans in this year's signing class, Ella Mills started her prep career at Rosemount High School before transferring to Lakeville South High School. An attacker for the Cougars, Mills was the leading scorer last year on the No. 1 ranked team in Minnesota, helping Fannin, Hammes, and the Cougars to an undefeated record and a state title. An Apex All-American, she was also named to the 4A all-section second team twice and the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player.
Hailing from Grafton, Mass., Abigail Scanlon has scored 105 goals and assisted on 92 in three years at Grafton High School. As a junior last season, she found the back of the net 46 times and added 30 assists. Named a 2023 and 2024 Mid-Mass All-Star, she was also the recipient of the Unsung Hero Award for volleyball and lacrosse. Scanlon, who helped the Gators win their first-ever district championship last year, is a member of the National Honors Society where she earned Honor Roll honors in 2021 and was named to the High Honor Roll in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Maddy Tlapa will close out her high school career this spring at Colonial Forge High School. A native of Fredericksburg, Virginia, she collected 138 goals, 28 assists, 123 groundballs, caused 52 turnovers, and won 141 draw controls in three years with the Eagles. A four-year member of the varsity field hockey and lacrosse programs, she has received all-district honors three times, and all-region honors twice in each sport. She added three team MVP awards and two all-area accolades in lacrosse while collecting all-state and all-area honors in field hockey. She played a part in the 2023 Commonwealth Girls Lacrosse District Championship and the 2022 Region 6B championship in field hockey.
Queener and the Mountain Lions will open the 2025 season at home on Tuesday, Feb. 25 against Davenport University.
