COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior midfielder
Fie Steenberg of the University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team has been named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for week 9, the conference office announced Thursday.
Steenberg and the Mountain Lions rolled through their final three games of the season, getting convincing victories in all three contests, earning the fourth seed ahead of the conference tournament to have home pitch advantage in the quarter-final round. Steenberg, a Senior winger from Odense, Denmark was a big part of that effort scoring three goals with another two assists on the attack for UCCS. Adding the game winner vs New Mexico Highlands last Thursday, Steenberg set herself apart on the final week of the season, and helped her squad outscore opponents 13-1 in their final three matches of the regular season.
UCCS will meet Colorado Christian in their opening match of the RMAC tournament, with the winner advancing to take on top seeded Colorado School of Mines in the semifinal round next Wednesday.
