Cross Country Teams Headed to NCAA DII Naitonal Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The field for the 2024 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Cross Country Championships were announced Monday afternoon, with both University of Colorado Colorado Springs cross country programs earning a selection to the national championships. 
 
Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.
 
The championships will be held Saturday, November 23 at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, Calif. Sacramento Sports Commission and California Collegiate Athletic Association will serve as the host. The men's race will begin at 11 a.m. (MT), followed by the women's race at 12:15 p.m. (MT).
 
The Mountain Lions women's team received an automatic bid to the national championship after running to a third-place team finish this past Saturday at the NCAA South Central Regional championship.
 
As a team, the Mountain Lions will be competing in their 15th NCAA Championship race (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2006, 2004, 2002, and 2000).  This year's national championship meet will be the eighth straight year UCCS has competed in the national championship race under head coach Corey Kubatzky, and the 11th time in the past 12 championships. 
 
The UCCS men's program finished seventh out of 24 teams at Saturday's South Central Regional championship and is receiving an at-large bid to the Division II Championships.  UCCS will be competing in the national meet for the 11th time in program history (2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2014, 2012, 2011, 2008, 2004) and in their sixth straight national meet.  Ten of the 11 times UCCS has qualified as a team for the national meet have come under head coach Mark Misch who took over the program in 2007.
 
A live webstream of the championships will occur on www.NCAA.com from 11 a.m. (MT) until the conclusion of the awards ceremony.
