COLORADO SPRINGS Colo. - University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's soccer team wraps up week four with two players highlighted by the conference; seeing Bella Whitmore repeat as Goalkeeper of the Week with
Jade Kinsey joining her as Defensive Player of the Week.
As a team women's soccer got off to an impeccable start in RMAC play this past weekend, earning two 2-0 wins against then 15
th ranked Colorado School of Mines, and Western Colorado.
Austin, Texas native
Isabella Whitmore, who was also named Goalkeeper of the Week in week 3, picked up right where she left off, and then some. In her two matches played on the weekend, Whitmore made five saves and collected two clean sheets having not allowed a goal in either match. Her two clean sheets, one clean sheet per game, 1.000 save percentage, and 0.00 goals against average each led the RMAC netminders on the weekend. Whitmore now owns three clean sheets on the year, with a 2-0-1 record in those matches.
Redshirt-senior
Jade Kinsey only appeared in one game on the weekend, with that appearance coming in a crucial match against Colorado School of Mines on Thursday evening. Kinsey made the most of her limited time on the pitch, however, as she patrolled the center-back position with authority. Faced with a relentless Mines attack that was constantly attempting to penetrate the middle of the field in the final third, Kinsey was not going to yield, always in position to clear the ball from harm's way. Her effort gave Whitmore behind her, and her defensive wingers beside her, the ability to settle into the game and open up to the midfielders, in a masterclass display of defending.
UCCS women's soccer hits the road this week as they travel to Lakewood for a Thursday afternoon match with Colorado Christian and finish the week on Sunday with a trip to Regency Athletic Complex against MSU-Denver.
