DENVER, Colo. – The University of Colorado Colorado Springs women's cross country team had seven runners wearing the black and gold Saturday morning at the 2023 Metroplitan State University of Denver Roadrunners Invitational. UCCS finished the 6k race tied with host school MSU Denver with 92 points.

AROUND THE COURSE
- Audrey Brunken led UCCS and finished eighth overall with a time of 24:03.33 in her first career 6k race.
- Nadine Almasri was on Brunken's heels, crossing the finish line in 13th place with a time of 23:15.07.
- Brooke Moss and Abby Bartel finished within 17 seconds of each other. Moss clocked a time of 23:46.40 for a 23rd place finish, followed closely by Bartel's 27th place finish in 24:03.33.
- Rounding out the top five Mountain Lions scorers was Kaya Pillivant's 32nd place finish in 24:16.42.
RACE LEADERS
- Amanda Lee of Westminster University led all 79 competitors with a 6k time of 22:12.98.
- Colorado School of Mines won the eight-team meet behind 53 points. Finishing runner-up was Colorado College (67 points) with Air Force Academy taking home third place (89 points).
BEYOND THE FINISH LINE
- Returners Almarasi and Moss both recorded career best 6k times this morning, while the other five – Bartel, Brunken, Madison Chavez, Pillivant and Maddie Ruszkiewicz all ran in their first career 6k race at UCCS.
UP NEXT
- UCCS will have two squads competing on Sept. 30. The Mountain Lions will send a team to Louisville, Ky. for the Live in Lou Classic, and another team will stay home and compete in the Colorado College Ted Castenda Invite.
