Track & Field Tallies 55 All-RMAC Honors; Fellows Named RMAC Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After putting forth an impressive showing at the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships to sweep the outdoor conference titles for a third consecutive season, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs men's and women's track and field teams were well-represented on the all-conference rosters as they combined to receive a total of 55 All-RMAC honors, including 28 on the first team and 27 on the second team.
 
UCCS head coach Ross Fellows was tabbed the RMAC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year for the third consecutive season, coinciding with his team's three-year string of dominance at the outdoor conference championships.
 
Adams State University's Miguel Coca was named the RMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Year, while Colorado Mesa University's Dawson Heide took home RMAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year honors and Western Colorado University's Tyler Nord claimed RMAC Men's Freshman of the Year accolades.
 
On the women's side, Colorado Mesa's Sierra Arceneaux was voted as the RMAC Women's Track Athlete of the Year, Black Hills State University's Kyla Sawvell was selected as the RMAC Women's Field Athlete of the Year, and Western Colorado's Allison Beasley earned RMAC Women's Freshman of the Year honors.
 
All major awards were voted on by the conference's head coaches. First Team All-RMAC consists of the top three individual finishers from each event and the first-place relay teams at the RMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Second Team All-RMAC consists of the fourth, fifth and sixth place individual finishers, along with the second-place relay teams.
 
Fellows brings home the RMAC Men's and Women's Coach of the Year awards after guiding the Mountain Lions to their third consecutive sweep of the outdoor conference titles, with the UCCS men's team scoring 180 points and the women's team tallying 130.50 points. Under the supervision of Fellows, the Mountain Lions combined to record a total of 23 podium finishes at the 2023 conference championship meet, including gold medal finishes from Audrey Bloomquist (Long Jump, Triple Jump), Skye Ciccarelli (High Jump), Justice Mendoza (100m, 200m), Afewerki Zeru (5000m), and both the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams. Fellows has now accumulated a total of 15 RMAC Coach of the Year awards (8 indoor, 7 outdoor) through his first seven seasons at the helm of the UCCS track and field program.
 
The Mountain Lion men's and women's teams combined to post an incredible 55 All-Conference honors at the 2023 RMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, including 28 first team honors and 27 second team honors.

The qualifying field for the 2023 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be announced this afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. (MT). The three-day national championship meet is set to take place in Pueblo, Colo., at the CSU Pueblo ThunderBowl on May 25-27.
