HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Marko Sipila took the mound for the second time this season, facing immediate pressure as Sammy Gonzales doubled down through the right side on the game's opening pitch. A sacrifice fly from Nick Upstill gave the Gators a 1-0 first inning lead.
- San Francisco State would add to their lead with a pair of RBI triples, followed by a RBI double, courtesy of Kody Gardner, to expand their lead to 4-0 in the top of the third.
- In the bottom half of the third inning, the Mountain Lions started to find some momentum. Singles by Ronan Hella and Caleb Stubbings helped UCCS load the bases with one out in the inning. Senior Brad Madison worked the count, drawing a walk, to provide the Mountain Lions with their first run on the afternoon.
- The Gators would respond in the top of the fifth inning with Gardner and AJ Schrader each tallying 2 RBI to grow their lead to seven.
- Hayden Zweig entered the game in the top of the sixth inning, but found little traction as the Gators recorded four runs on two hits. Garrett Shriver quickly entered the game, ending the inning with a routine 5-4-3 double play to strand the lone runner.
- A Macully Sehr double to open the bottom of the sixth inning injected some life into the Mountain Lions offense. However, UCCS was not able to capitalize on the opportunity, leaving the inning with no runs.
- San Francisco State added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning, propelling them to a 15-1 victory to end the four-game series.
